One of the Bavarian defenders is, frankly, behaving very strangely at the moment. Benjamin Pavard’s contract runs until the summer of 2024, and sources say that the club have no intention of extending it. And the defender himself is not keen on playing for the Germans either.
It has been noted that the player has not been behaving adequately inside the squad in recent times, and off the field things are not going well either. But it does not reflect on the team’s performance. On the other hand, the management are thinking of ways to get rid of Pawar. During the winter transfer window, he is the main contender to leave the club.
Back at the end of last month, a sports publication reported that Benjamin left the pitch early after the game against Mainz. He only came out in the second half and it didn’t suit him. Then, the Frenchman was the first to leave training and avoid eye contact with the coaches.
And the current position of the player does not suit him, because the head coach – Julian Nagelsmann uses him at the positions of right and central defender. And Pawar himself wants to be the main man in the squad.
Last season the Frenchman was saying straight out that his place was in the centre but the coach thinks otherwise. There are other promising players in the squad who cannot be without match practice. At the same time, he has serious competition on the right.
So back in the summer Pawar was thinking of leaving the club during the summer transfer window. Now there are grands from England and Spain who are interested in the player, but Bayern intend to include him in the transfer deal for de Ligt from Juventus. The player is now valued at €35 million.
Not long ago, the footballer himself gave an interview in which he said that he was struggling with depression at this stage. And during the pandemic, the problems were as severe as possible.
But now there is improvement, albeit slight. But psychological problems are still present. And in September, the Frenchman was caught up in a scandal, with the police detaining him for driving a vehicle while intoxicated. Ultimately, the footballer was left without a driving licence. It soon became known that the club levied a five-figure fine on the player.
Now Pawar is not the main player of the Bavarians, so both the team and the player himself will only benefit from his transfer. He has no motivation to play for the club, so a new challenge is an opportunity to restart his career and show good football.
